When this novel first came out it was the cover that caught my attention. After I read the synopsis I knew that I needed to read this novel.
Jasmine may be just your average high school student but her life is far from that of an average high school student. She has a younger brother that suffers from epilepsy and a mom who started drinking way to much after Jasmine's father left them. This novel really clicked with me because it is not that common to see a novel that is so focused on bringing awareness to epilepsy, and as a part of the epileptic community I felt very thankful to for bringing light to something that so many people deal with as a part of their everyday life. I really liked the fact that you could tell that Jennifer did her research on the subject and that makes me appreciate her as an author that much more.
All in all This Ordinary Life is a very well written Young Adult Contemporary. I enjoyed every minute of the novel, even when I was on the verge of tears with what was happening because it was so easy to connect with the emotions that Jasmine was feeling.
